Seriously probably as much as I prayed for my own. LOL!!! Im SO SO excited for Kelly + Brandon and its SUCH A GIFT to watch your best friend since MIDDLE SCHOOL (CRAZY we've been friends for basically 2 DECADES now) become a mama and an AMAZING one at that!!!!

Tips and tricks for a GREAT newborn session!!!

  1. Make sure your nursey has great light, or the area that you are having your newborn pictures done at.
  2. Schedule your session when the light is the BEST in that room. Typically I do newborn sessions in the morning, but in my best friend Kellys house the light was best around 1-2 pm.
  3. I would recommend the baby being asleep, so I say 7-20 days after birth when they are still the sleepiest. (Also if you are nursing this is typically when the cluster feeding days have passed. Unless you are like my son and cluster fed until he was ONE! LOL!)
  4. I would make sure to plan/schedule your feeding right before the photographer arrives so your baby is nice and full.
  5. I love swaddles and dont do a ton of outfit changes because it wakes the baby up and can irritate your little one.
  6. Im a firm believer in how you act can rub off on the baby. So just enjoy it because the baby stage is seriously the sweetest and SOAK UP ALL THE CUDDLES!!!

Also I do want to add that this is a NEWBORN LIFESTYLE SESSION. There is a HUGE difference between Newborn LIFESTYLE and posed NEWBORN studio. A newborn lifestyle session is when a photographer comes into your home and photographs y'all in their natural element. There are really no props (unless you provide them!) and no intricate posing. A studio newborn session can be a very long session (both of my babies were about 3-4 hours). That photographer is TRAINED TO POSE THE BABY in those specific positions where the baby is constantly SAFE. I definitely recommend you researching and asking your photographer whether or not they are trained as some of the positions can cause your newborn discomfort or can hurt them if they are not posed correctly/properly. I LOVE both so its really up to your preference. I do NOT do posed studio newborn photography and NEVER will. LOL!!!! The women I know that do them are AMAZING and Im so impressed by them!!!
